    Horizontal Fire Resistance Test Furnace

    BS 476 (20-24); BS EN 1363 (1-2); BS EN 1364 (2); BS EN 1365 (2-4); BS EN 1366 (1-3); ASTM E119; ASTM E814; ASTM E1966; UL 263; UL 1709; UL 1479; UL 2079; UL10 (B-C); ISO 834 (1, 5-7, 9); ISO 6944 (1-2); ISO 3008

The fire resistance of a material within an assembly is a critical factor in assessing the performance of construction elements as required by regulations.

The CMTS Horizontal Fire Resistance Test Furnace is designed to evaluate the fire resistance of horizontal construction assemblies and supports. It provides a reliable method for assessing a material’s ability, in a horizontal orientation, to withstand exposure to high temperatures. This evaluation considers key performance factors, including:

    • Load-bearing capacity
    • Fire containment ability
    • Thermal transmittance

    Key Features & Construction

    • Versatile Testing Capability

      • Supports both load-bearing and non-load-bearing tests.
      • Accommodates horizontal test specimens and beams mounted in customized restraint frames.
    • Robust & Safe Furnace Construction

      • Furnace walls: Lined with insulating fire bricks, refractory castables, and mineral fiber board (cold face) and high-temperature cast-in-situ refractory bricks (hot face).
      • Removable roof: Lined with profiled bricks and secured with in-situ cast refractories.
      • Reinforced furnace casing: Built with mild steel plates, C-Channels, I-beams, and steel sections to withstand heat-induced structural distortion.
      • Specimen restraint frame: Secured by at least four clamp sets for stability.
    • Enhanced Operator Visibility & Safety

      • Four heat-resistant quartz glass viewing ports for monitoring test specimens during fire tests.
      • Sliding alumina door enclosed within an insulated, air-cooled frame, shielding against furnace heat when viewing ports are not in use.
    • Advanced Burner System

      • 16 Refractory Nozzle Mix Burners (two groups of eight), designed for liquefied petroleum gas operation.
      • Fail-safe flame supervision system ensures safe and reliable operation.
      • Equipped with flame safety systems, intermittent pilot ignition, and temperature sensors for enhanced safety.
    • Furnace Combustion Control Panel

      • Operates in both fully automatic and manual modes.
      • One-button automatic ignition follows a preset heating curve (e.g., BS 476 Parts 20-24, EN 1363, IMO Hydrocarbon Curve).
      • Manual burner control allows individual burners to be ignited as needed.
    • Test area dimensions: 3000mm (W) × 4000mm (H) × 1200mm (D)
